THE PROject
The existing version of the IO App has usability and consistency issues that do not meet users’ needs. After identifying the main purposes of the app, paying bills and getting bonuses, we redesigned the app from the information architecture to the UI.

analysis
To understand potential IO App users, we built two possible usage scenarios that Italian citizens might experience. We created a protocol to ensure consistency during each testing session. For each task, we evaluated efficiency (in terms of errors and time), effectiveness, and satisfaction. We tested 5 users for each scenario.
ideation
Based on user testing, we developed a redesign brief to make interacting with the Italian PA more engaging. This involves simplifying and prioritizing the information displayed with a clearer hierarchy, enhancing consistency in affordances like icons and patterns to guide users better, and creating a more structured information architecture to make app functionalities clear and easily accessible.
iterations
We refined the IO app's information architecture through tree testing. Initial testing revealed issues, so we conducted a second, more successful test. This led to a redesigned structure, with improvements to the wallet, settings, and notifications sections, along with the addition of a support section. We then created two wireframe versions and, after testing, combined the best features into a third version. The final test of this third version confirmed our design choices.
final design
We designed the high-fidelity prototype using the Designers Italia design system, aiming to make the app more engaging and visually appealing. We then tested the redesigned app using the same protocol as before, with 5 regular users for each scenario. The redesigned app showed improvements in efficiency, effectiveness, and satisfaction.

reflections
To further improve the app redesign, conducting research on additional use case scenarios would make the solution more comprehensive. Including familiar users in testing, along with new or occasional users, would provide deeper insights. Additionally, refining the high-fidelity prototypes would result in a more realistic and polished final product.
